No worm selector?
I have just got the DS version and love it, having not played worms since armageddon. However, I really miss the ability to choose which worm gets to move. I thought this added more strategy to the game as both players could pick the worms that were in the hot seat. (it could only be used X amount of times if i remember correctly, unless you picked up more).
Has it been decided that this element ruined the game, or made it too easy or something? Its just depressing to jump online, and start with a worm who cant do anything, only to have your opponent decimate another of your worms because they were next to a barrel, and you didnt get a chance to move away. picking the correct worm to move, and picking *when* to use the selector was a puzzle in itself. it really rocked. seems a bit randon without it =( just my first impresions. awesome game though. |

I've posted my opinion on this a few times:
http://forum.team17.com/showthread.php?t=33570 It adds some strategy of it's own but takes away the need for some other strategies. I guess the only way to make everyone happy is to make it optional but then you start to divide players and you have to make sure everyone knows the scheme settings. I think it's a good thing that you can't choose which worm gets to move it would be to easy if you could choose.

Well, more options is (almost) never a bad thing, IMO. Select Worm is a nice thing to have a couple of for emergencies (like when the initial level setup will allow your opponent some quick and cheap deaths), but this is still a good game without it.

worm select
I guess it doesn't really matter either way if its in or not.
2 good players would always choose the correct worm anyway. It may be harder for a new player to decide which worm to choose. i.e adding another level of decisions to a game that you have to think fast already! guess ill have to start watching the turn order then huh?
