Worms World Party Windows Vista - Windows 7 Compatibility Fix

Hello everyone,

I'm using a 64 bit Windows 7 laptop, and when I installed worms first (with Windows 7 fix) it worked perfectly. Then, after a few games, it crashed (screen turned black, sound was still working and it could only quit it by pressing ctrl + alt + delete, followed by a ''Worms has stop working'' error.) From that point the same keeps happening every time I want to start a game, menu and start screen works fine.

Now I have tried to uninstal worms, the fix and deleting all the files. Then installed a fresh copy of both the game and the fix. But nothing changed.

It's weird because I didn't change anything to the files (besides the windows 7 fix) and it suddenly went from working to not working, even with a fresh instal.

Any help would be appreciated.

No, I changed nothing. Not on purpose at least.
But it's already fixed. I got Worms Armageddon instead and that one runs smoothly.

this will not fix the crashes, only palette. nothing will help you, but maybe updated drivers

And i have tried everything to run my game worms world party but every time i do so, my screen go black and a pop up message appear saying that "Worms World Party Has Stopped Working"... method 1 and 3 worked for the game menus, but when i start the game it displays nothing

DirectDrawFix by xOmicron
Just choose the EXE of the game that needs to be fixed (wwp.exe in our case) and apply. You're done!
No need to turn off explorer/aero/etc or use any fixes at all anymore! Don't forget to remove all other fixes after this to prevent additional problems.

Did this work for anyone on x64 Systems?
For me it didnt work, just on 32 bit Windows Seven, but there it worked for me
without a fix too.
Worms Mayhem doesnt work on x64 either for me.

you mean the DirectDrawFix or the fix from this thread?
DirectDrawFix works for both 32-bit and 64-bit, but ensure to remove all other fixes so it works properly.

I've followed the instructions on the first page:
Installed
copied DATA from disk
Installed SP1
Installed 1.5 compatibility patch

And I'm still getting the "Worms World Party has stopped working" error

I've tried disabling my graphics drivers, the same error occurs

sorry, none of the fixes in the thread will help from the crash. They only fix palette.
However I know a partial solution to run wwp on these PCs (with a bit of glitchy windowed mode), but it will still crash when starting the match
Did you try updating graphics drivers? I was having exactly the same problem and in one good day it magically gone

PS: and indeed, the fix in this thread isn't more than a color fix, so the title should be "palette fix" rather than "compatibility fix"...

It crashes with app stop error? then there's no way to fix it, except updating drivers (which helps only depending on the graphics card; for me it helped).

All the "fixes" are only for colour problems. None of them will prevent the game from crashing!!!

With no fixes, I get menu in full colour, and game with black background / terrain (making terrain invisible) and dodgey coloured worms and UI.

With the directdrawfix, I get menu in full colour, and nothing but a blank black screen during the game - though sound is fine.

With the three-methods fixer, suspending or killing explorer has no effect other than the normal. Disabling aero gets me the menu in incorrect colours, and the game displays perfectly though again with dodgey colours - terrain and background is entirely visible.

I made sure to try both with a fresh install.
What should I do?

What should I do?

Are you running browsers? (Internet explorer, chrome, firefox)? If so, close them. They are common WWP palette stealers. Also skype, but there can be a lot of others

Hey guys,
So I ran the test mode, had colour for the first time (WOOHOO!) in mode_2, so afterwards set it to mode 2. But it hasn't worked since that! (argh!) I tried to uninstall, reinstall the fix, but it saved the mode_2 regardless. How do I go back to test mode? Any other ideas?

If you actually have the CD version of the game already, you may have used the wrong language patch when updating.
