The Good News Thread
Have some good news you're just itching to tell someone? ("I just won the lottery!") Or maybe you heard some news you can't wait to share ("Steven Spielberg is making a film about socks!").
Whatever the case, this is the thread for those times when you just want to stand in front of the world and say "TODAY HAS BEEN A GOOD DAY!" Let the good times roll!

Is there any "wait, that isn't good news" image for the opposite thread?

Posted the first sneaky-peak of my new webcomic, Deadlong, over on my Tumblr. You might want to look at it. With your eyes.

So I've just had a job offer and I graduate in July.
Is this a good thing?

It seems that I'm passing the 2nd grade. That's extremely awesome news for me especially since my books still close when I open them and some of them are still in the foil.

checkmyfile / Credit Reporting Agency Ltd
It's a local (in Cornwall) company that deals with multi-agency credit reports. I'm headed to IT and programming. I'm amazed I got the offer; I have minimal programming experience and they had several hundred applicants apparently. Whilst not as interesting as some of the stuff graduates I know have gone on to do, employment is employment and interesting things should happen.

And another sneak-peek at Deadlong. I am very excited about this, and also incredibly optimistic considering the spectacular feedback I've had so far.

Nah, I'll keep my comics on the internet where people might actually read them.

So I am now officially finished my university degree! I shall be graduating with a 2.1 (second highest grade), which is pretty nice.
I also got an 84% in AI, which should really help with getting that PhD in AI that I wanted. A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and IT, if you're interested. It also qualifies me as a chartered engineer too, I believe. I really need to look into that more. Last edited by Plasma; 18 Jun 2012 at 16:22. |

2.1? What's the maximum grade in whatever system that is?

It goes
first class honours (70%+) 2.1 (second class honours, grade 1 - 60% - 69%) 2.2 (second class honours, grade 2 - 50% - 59%) Pass (40% - 49%. And I think this is actually a third class honours by British standards, and a Pass there is 35%+) For an American equivalent, supposedly I would've gotten around a 3.75 GPA. Last edited by Plasma; 18 Jun 2012 at 22:59. Reason: Okay, so a 3.75 probably isn't actually possible. I don't know how GPAs work, I just went with half-way between 4.0 and 3.5 |
