Question probably been asked before.. But is WORMS 3D for the XBOX, LIVE enabled?

.

Okay, i'm a U.S. resident and I'm very interested in this title. I haven't played a WORMS games since the very first one came out on the PC.. But lately i've been looking for XBOX LIVE games with deeper online play and I was hoping WORMS 3D would be my next LIVE Enabled game.. If its not LIVE enabled then it would make my decision to purchase this title much more difficult.

Now i've read MrXbob's thread but i didn't come away from that thread with any definitive answer to my question.

Which of course is:
Will WORMS 3D be XBox Live enabled for us U.S. Xbox Owners?

I could understand why it was not LIVE Enabled in PAL regions. I'm sure XBOX LIVE subscriptions in those regions does not have a very large user base and it would seem more risky to include LIVE in the title in those regions because the title would not have had large LIVE/Consumer appeal (or chance of competing on the LIVE title sales) as say Crimson Skies or PGR2.

But I wouldn't see why WORMS 3D would not be LIVE Enabled for the States.. The states has the largest XBOX LIVE Subscription Userbase, largest Consumer attach ratio per xbox (meaning U.S. Consumers would be more likely to purchase more titles than say their PAL region counterparts), and the states has the largest possibility of Broadband expansion and availability (when compared to PAL Regions of course).

Now i've read in my latest U.S. OFFICIAL XBOX MAGAZINE (February 2004 Issue) on page 16 and I quote:

"If you don't know WORMS, then you don't know games. The Classic 2D, all out tactical action game gets a 3D facelift for Xbox. Take your worms online with XBOX LIVE as well."

So my question still stands, have any of the developers on these boards definitively stated the U.S.version of this title will be LIVE enabled?

P.S. I hope i have not offended any PAL region purchasers of this title such as MrXbob. Oh and this is my first post on these official forums but hope it won't be my last.

Heres hoping this will be a regular board I'll post on to talk about XBOX LIVE Worm matches in the near future.

Obviously I can't say for certain, but it does look like X-Box Live Compatibility is going to be included in the X-Box US version. Congrats.

Yay! When USA get games first, we Europeans get the game 3 months after Americans and some features get removed. When Europeans get games first we have to patch the game 300 times on PC, or use a buggy console version, while Americans get it pre-patched with several features added. How fair is that?

Are you having problems implementing XBOX LIVE into our (U.S.) Version Lamont?

Doesn't Microsoft help devs with that? I read an article on their Xbox.com site which stated they had special teams which provide assistance to 3rd Party Developers which are having problems implementing XBOX specific features (such as LIVE).

I can't for the life of me find that article anymore but I did find this: http://www.xbox.com/en-us/dev/naregdev.htm

Dunno if thats the same thing.. Doesn't your team have access to Microsoft's Xbox Support Teams?

Hate to say this, but America is more important. Not to be derogatory to any Englanders, and I actually think it's quite wrong, but we're the world's sole superpower, so we always get it our way. So, we are free to sit on our lazy butts and eat Big Macs while we play our XBoxes. America is stupid.

It really all comes down to the distributors decision. Sega Europe wanted the game out before christmas, so they had to release the versions as is. While Acclaim decided to wait so they also got to make the decision to have it come out as Xbox Live. I'm an American but disagree that it has anything to do with it being America and us being a superpower. That is really irrelevant in this case.

P.S. I also just read a post written by Spadge that says the exact same thing except it also mentioned that there are a lot more Xbox Live users here in the U.S. So, really it was all up to Sega and they wanted it out before christmas which is understandable but also unfortunate for European consumers

Thats right, although we actually decided to have a delayed US release with XB Live - we don't generally have the luxury of such decisions, but our commercial terms were such that we did.

You have to be careful with the "Team17 Staff" status line — you know that.

You say anything and before you know it there'll be a four page thread discussing the implications. There'll probably be a full game plan in there somewhere just ripe for development (or the bin).

It won't. Generally PAL/NTSC versions are incompatible unless someone has a modified system, although I'm told that Live doesn't function correctly in that case.

I'm not aware of the military being involved with game distribution decisions.

I was looking at Sony's sales figures for 2003 last week, and it looked to me that the numbers for the US and Europe were pretty much the same.

Ah... You had me worried for a second...

Glad to know everything is going to plan.. Can't wait to get my grubby little hands on my next LIVE title..

I'll try to promote it as much as possible now that I know it'll be XBOX LIVE compatible..

I'm known very well on two major Videogame Forums, so hopefully my sway can provide Team17 with some extra sales and attention...

-EDIT (I added some questions about LIVE play below which hopefully you'll be able to address)

I have a few questions about LIVE play, will it include a rematch lobby? Such as the lobby in MOTOGP and MOTOGP 2 where people return to after the match is over with?

Another question which i'm being asked on another message board is: Is there guest support for online play? (Where you can use your Xbox Live account with a guest player sitting next to you?)

And someone mentioned in a thread I made here and I quote: "One annoying thing is you can move the camera and your worm not inverted but when you aim it's inverted and there is no way to change it."

Will that be fixed so that certain settings can be saved and kept in place? Such as you wanting to have Non-Inverted Controlling, but inverted aiming reticle? I found that somewhat annoying when playing in Crimson Skies as well, they only set it up so that you can only choose one type of control for everything.. For instance, in Crimson Skies you could only fly your plane either INVERTED or NON-INVERTED, the thing is that when you used one of the stationary turrets the INVERTED controls threw you off (since most people are use to NON-INVERTED controls when aiming with a sniping reticle)

One last question I have is will WORMS 3D support CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS? TETRIS WORLDS Online supports it for Online play and I feel like its one key element missing from many XBOX LIVE titles.. Sometimes people just want to hear their own tunes when laying the smack down on his buds..

Sometimes people own CD players. I'd hardly call it a key feature. It seems like an unnessecary extra to me.

The selling point of the X-Box is that, with exercise and proper development of your arm and back muscles, you can use it to club a whale to death.

This thread is now the "Alternate Uses For An X-Box" thread.

It's also useful as ballast.

Tired of high-priced low-cost hosting? Simply buy yourself an X-Box and remove the internal components. There is enough room inside your average X-Box to comfortably fit a family of 12.

A thousand times No. It's just not possible. Spadge has said in a previous post that they have explored all of the possibilities and it just won't happen. Not for a while, at least.

I'm not sure if you're referring to the previous post of Spadge in this exact topic, but if you do, (I think) he doesn't say an add on for Europa is impossible, but that you can't import the US version of the game to play it Live in for example the UK.

What I asked is: do we get in Europe an add on, or a re-release, like has previously been done with for example Race Driver? Or do we just have to cry and swear, coz Sega didn't want to give Team17 enough time for an Xbox Live function in de UK version, and desperately wanted to be in the shops before the holiday season?

He said it in another thread. I'm too lazy to go digging through the other thread (even though it's probably one of the top threads in this particular corner of the forum). But it does not look like we will be getting a Live!-enabled European release.

Ok, thanks anyway

Too bad though, in multiplayer, and thus online, Worms (3D) really shines
