Windows Vista - Worms World Party Colour Fix 1.0

Hi guys..
I've made a little fix to make WWP work on Vista without the annoying inverted and changing colours.
This fix makes it possible to keep the default Worms colours at all times, so they never change to a different colour.

You can get the fix by downloading the attachment below.

quoted:
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Download the attachment
2) Rename it from 'WWP Colour Fix for Vista.zip.txt' to 'WWP Colour Fix for Vista.zip'
(This is because this forum doesn't allow attachment uploads of zip files to be more than 100KB, but does allow text files)
3) Extract all files in the ZIP file using a compression utility such as WinZIP or WinRAR.
4) Important: Read the Instructions.txt file after extracting to see how to install/uninstall and other stuff.
Please make sure that you read the instructions in the attachment carefully.

EDIT::::
Version 1.1 released!
Guys if you have been facing problems such as Windows Explorer not re-opening automatically after you quit the game, some 'H:' drive problem, or some 'anthem' problem during installation/uninstallation, please download
WWP Color Fix for Vista v1.1.zip.txt then rename it to WWP Color Fix for Vista v1.1.zip

VERY IMPORTANT! - For those of you who have had no problems with this fix and think it works fine, please DO NOT UPDATE to v1.1 because I have not made an overwrite function for this. v1.1 has no difference to v1.0 other than fixing the problems mentioned by the posters who are facing problems

Thanks for you help in improving my programming ability guys.

Until Then,
Enjoy!

Nice, will see if it works.

Oh wait:

When Worms World Party is quit, the fix re-enables Windows Explorer and the 'Aero' effect.
Might not on mine, since i use win98 style menus already.

How about providing the source code, so we know it's not a cleverly disguised trojan?

Edit: never mind, it's just a batch file wrapped in an .exe (why?) that kills Windows Explorer, starts wp.exe (it renames wwp.exe to wp.exe when it "installs"), and starts Explorer again (assuming Windows is installed in C:\Windows - use %WINDIR% next time).

How is your "fix" different than disabling compositing (Aero effects) in WWP's compatibility settings?

Well, in the Games Explorer, you have to make sure that you run WWP.exe.. hence, this patch makes sure your WWP runs while disabling explorer at the same time, hence it renames your WWP.exe. It it were a batch file, Games Explorer wouldn't have recognized this as Worms World Party so it wouldn't show that WWP is installed on the computer.

Although it's a batch file (I've already mentioned it in my Instructions.txt file), it does not invert the colours again, so yeah, it IS a fix.

It is different from disabling the the Aero effects because that does NOT work for me, however, this fix does. Hence, for those of you who have made it work that way, it's alright not to use this fix.

And thanks for the %WINDIR% advice (lol). I always thought that explorer would be in C:\Window\. I'm still a beginner at this, so I need to take advice from others, so thanks!

And thanks for analyzing the file. Now everyone knows it's safe to download and not a trojan or some other malware.

Some installations that have been upgraded from certain versions (including Win2k I think) have C:\WINNT (for WINdows NT), and you can also specify a different path on installation.

Have you tried opening the EXE with a hex editor (not a rhetorical question, I want to know).

Everything went well until i tried install the patch:

H:\...French anthem.wav
Couldn't find that drive location (or something like that in eng)

Why it tries find drive H, cause i don't have it

This doesn't matter, I had the same problem but the fix still worked like magic!

Me and my brother love playing this against each other, works perfectly on Vista over TCP/IP network. Just applied this and it works perfectly fine, never thought I'd be able to play WWP properly on Vista.

Who cares if it's just a batch script, simple fixes are the best aren't they? It's been so many years and this is one of the first fixes to come about so if all it does is rename a file and kill explorer.exe, well great - it's something I never thought about and it works easily.

Many thanks again
