Worms armageddon decade

A new game Worms Armageddon Decade has been rated in Australia (published by Microsoft). Probably an XBLA version

It's probably just a collectors edition.

If it is a new game or even a revamp of the existing game on XBLA, I sincerely hope it isn't as limited as the current version in regards to total online players and the ability for multiple local players to play online.

The 4 player limitation online in the current version is the killer for me. I haven't and won't buy the current game because of it. I have a group of friends from work who get together and play online at least once a week. Most of the time we're 8 people or less. But occasionally we're 10+. Any game that limits online play to less than 8 people is basically a no-go for this group.

The other factor is that my wife can't sit down and play with me and our friends online. So instead we play Bomberman Live! which is the perfect example of how to do this sort of thing right. Both games are similar in terms of accessibility for new/casual players. But Bomberman supports up to 8 people online and multiple local people on one box can easily play with multiple local people on another box.

8 or more people?! That'd be an insane waiting time between turns, y'know!
But hey, it's a turn-based team game. Why not just have two people on a team?

Bomberman isn't turn based. In Worms, it can be a long time before 7 people finish their turn and you could be dead by then without being able to do anything about it. Of course any amount of players can still be fun, especially with friends in the game and you could make the turn time really short and have teams.

With Armageddon in the title, it would be nothing more than an insult to not include all of Armageddon's features. A stripped down Worms game wouldn't deserve to use Armageddon in the title.

You do realise that it is, at best, a re-release of W:A, right? And has nothing to do with WormsXBLA?

An updated re-release of WA would be great but it turns out this is an enhanced version of WormsXBLA/Worms Open Warfare 2. It doesn't use the Worms Armageddon engine.

At best? You meant "at worst", didn't you?

No, I'm pretty sure he meant "at best". Re-read the context.

It's for XBLA, apparently. Hopefully Xboxers will have the beauty of a true worms game.

Mole Strike!

Twice in a month, 2 of our undercover titles have been outed. Fortunately they've had an excited initial reaction, but full details, videos and content will follow.

For the record, Worms PSN is an enhanced edition of the hugely successful XBLA edition, with more levels, additional weapons, audio, 1080p support and more besides.

The new title for XBLA is subject to a potential name change and it's a vastly expanded edition of the game which mixes classic weapons and features from Worms Armageddon (released 1999) and some very new (and rather tasty) new content.

The original XBLA edition of Worms is available for a stupidly good value of $5/£3.50 or something, so warm up on that!

We hope that people will be delighted.
Sounds great.

Huge contradiction there, console ports of Worms games aren't true Worms games. Just like 3D Worms games aren't... oh wait...

If I'm reading this right, "Decade" will also be released on PC.

Coming in Spring will be a new title initially for Xbox Live Arcade and later for PC. This game should be revealed in March and is sure to cause some excitement.

Since it's published by Microsoft, it's almost certain to use Games for Windows Live. I wonder if it will be multiplayer compatible with the 360 version. That's very rarely the case but it would be a great selling point.

No, I wasn't, relelases usally contain some sort of extra features, so, it's not going to be WA at best, if anything, it will be WA at worst, because there's room for improvements and additional features.

Oops.
I misread your post and thought you said you're almost certain that it'll use Games for Windows Live.

Well, do you really think it's so certain to use GfW Live?

I don't know for sure if it will use GfW but Microsoft would have pushed to have their system in the game and the developer usually tries to do what the publisher requests.

I guess screenshots will be released on or before GDC March 23-29. We weren't supposed to know about Decade just yet.

Actually, the expression means that, at best (In the best of cases), it could reach the quality of WA, but not make it better. You both are saying the same thing, actually.

EDIT: Reading again... It's an improvement over the Xbox one. People suggest it can't beat WA from that starting point. Which seems plausible to this day.

There's still hope for us to be mistaken, though.

EDIT AGAIN: Ok, information is quite confusing at the moment... Is it a WA improvement, or a XBLA one?
